Spine Surgery & ABSS
Spine surgery is the surgical specialty devoted to the restoration and preservation of spine function by managing disorders of the spine with both non-operative and complex operative treatment modalities. Spine surgery is a unique subspecialty of neurosurgical or orthopaedic surgery.
The American Board of Spine Surgery was formed in 1997 as a non-profit independent certification organization to serve the best interests of the public and the medical/surgical community by addressing the special needs of the unique specialty of spine surgery.
National leaders in neurosurgery and orthopaedic surgery volunteered their efforts to join in the leadership challenge of inaugurating the American Board of Spine Surgery. They hired Professional Testing Corporation to provide psychometric expertise in formulation of a written examination that is based on the most up to date medical/surgical and scientific information available. The examination is updated on a regular basis to reflect current standards in spine surgery.
The American Board of Spine Surgery invites applications from all qualified experienced surgeons specializing in spine surgery.
