You may obtain a copy of the Handbook and Application Form in PDF format for the Part I Written Examination by clicking on the link. It is important to also get a copy of the Application Cover letter to assist you in preparing supporting documentation to accompany your application.

DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS:

Part I Written Examination:
    April 1, 2010 for examination period beginning May 29, 2010 and ending June 12, 2010
    September 1, 2010 for examination period beginning October 9, 2010 and ending October 23, 2010

Deadline for Part II Oral Examination is June 15, 2010The examination will be given at the NASS annual conference on October 4, 2010 in Orlando, FL


Written Exam Preparation Materials

For those preparing for the Part I Written Examination, there is an annual Review Course offered by the American College of Spine Surgery.  The dates of the next Review Course will be announced when available.

The American Board of Spine Surgery has also produced a Core Curriculum of Spine Surgery which is a compilation of bibliography references to other publications.  The Core Curriculum outlines the topic areas that are covered by the written examination.  The Review Course offered by the American College of Spine Surgery is based on this list of topic areas.  Upon application for the Part I Written Examination, you may request a copy of the Core Curriculum at no charge.
